Hey, I had even more "girltime" today. 'tis such good medicine for me.
thankfulness
Old Funky Bastard (aka Stinky Guest Dog) has been delivered to the kennel-- aahh, we can breathe again...literally!
though she is kinda uncomfortable, sis is doing well in her pregnancy.

hot off the press: I have skin cancer; i'll know more when my margins come back later this week. I'm not all that worried
about my immediate future, just not so keen on how my odds have now changed for the long run. the physical aspect of getting
old(er) can suck sometimes, no?
ps: I have a secret!....more later!

nature
i have the place to myself right now (with the exception of stinky guest dog); this has not happened during daytime hours for a long time-- but, i think i hear them coming up the road (hb took the dogs for their shots this morning).
people
Had some more "girltime" this weekend and yesterday: went to sf on saturday to hang with audrey, change my surroundings, and get some shopping done. yesterday, i had my hair did and it was relaxing. my man even gave me a kick-ass massage last night-- man, i needed that. my neck/back are kinda hosed - and for all the wrong reasons!
in other people news, my sister had her 10-week pregnancy check up and everything is a-okay; time to spread the word! we're all excited for her & jb.
thankfulness
safe travels, getting bites on the trooper for sale, and it looks like i'll be getting an extra day of work with this new grant (assuming we get the award). i am also thankful for the insurance that my boss pays 100% of; for a non-profit-- this was icing on the cake. I'm heading to the dermo this week, the lady doc next week, and then the dentist. Another thing I am thankful for? The fact that I have been craving (and have eaten ) a huge spinach salad almost everyday for the past month. why do i crave this all of a sudden? who knows. but, we are trying to create a likeness of ourselves right now. i'll know more at the end of the week!
other
getting ready to file our biz license papers as the momentum builds on our b.s. gig. i'm looking forward to a 2nd source of income again!

Watching a pod of whales right now; it is prime light and waves for watching this very moment. I also plan on taking the girls for a nature walk around the property this afternoon. We look for cool trash, dead stuff, and new mushrooms.
people
Had some "girltime" yesterday morning; it was v. refreshing and good for my soul.
thankfulness
Stinky guest dog is unable to jump up on furniture or beds, everyone is healthy, and the truck was repaired to pass smog for $75...now we can sell it!
other
Kind overwhelmed with doing newsletter stuff; I am really not doing well at managing my caseload with those duties always in the back of my mind. Kinda crazy for a 24-hr a week gig.

Dreams
I am not one who typically remembers my dreams each morning, but today was an
exception. I have spent all day trying to figure it out. I'm about to resort to making one of those 2-columned "association lists" - you know then ones you used to have to complete in gradeschool where you draw lines, connecting an item in the first column to an item in the second column. BTW, my two columns would be named "Dream" and "Reality". Where my buckethead comes up with these scenarios, I do not know. As a friend said this morning over breakfast, "That is a wild one. Maybe you are pregnant". Let's add another loop to the rollercoaster, shall we?
Today is just one of those days that I should have either stayed out all day, or, crawled back into bed. Instead, I decided to spend 4+ hours trying to network 2 PCs and associated equipment with a crazymaker breathing down my throat. This is the same crazymaker who about halfway through this exercise said "oh, yeah...I renamed your computer, the network and your hard drive last night".
Gee, thanks....you shouldn't have. No, REALLY, you SHOULDN'T HAVE...

Happy New Year
Well, it's that time, once again, and my oh my how it crept up on us this year! We drove to AZ (with the dogs) and spent the holidays in Scottsdale and Tucson; we had many family gatherings, and were even able to sneak in a few quick visits to friends Kristi, Leah, Snowman and Dan. Even saw our SF friend Mike while we were there, too. We picked up our nephew in LA on the way to AZ on 24th, arrived in time to open gifts and have dinner with my family on 25th, did the whole "meet the family" dinner on the 26th, went to Tucson that night and stayed until Sunday 28th (HB was very ill while we were there), and we did manage to get our mexican food fix at Midway Molina - they have the best green chilis there! Returned in time for family Hanukkah gathering at Dad's with all three of his families present, spent the night at Denisey's, then got up at 5am, took she and JB to the airport and we were on the road home by 7am. Since there was so much bad weather up north, we skipped our planned Sedona visit as well as Mono Lake/Death Valley and came home the quickest route through LA (10 to 210 to 5); we actually did not hit rain until the central valley north, so that was good. In addition to a lot of great gifts, I also came home with a shitty cold/flu thing-- ugh. This moment is the first that I have been out of bed/off the couch for 2 days. I am a rotten patient: cranky, no appetite, and full of some pretty nasty, colorful phlegm. I hate that part. In any case, on to the next...
My only resolution for 2004 is to live my life better. That about sums it up. We plan to get preg this year, and I have mixed feelings (excitement/fear) about the whole process. With my medical history, some things may not come easily for us, but we will do our best! Okay, back to reruns of In Living Color. I hate being sick!
